Formed in Philadelphia in 2005, the band have built legions of devoted fans around the world thanks to five beloved studio albums and stunning live shows that are now the stuff of legend.
The New Yorker crowned them “the best American rock band of this decade” and frontman Adam Granduciel “rock’s next torchbearer” on the release of their 2017 album, A Deeper Understanding, for which they won the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and were nominated for a BRIT Award for International Group of the Year.
2020 saw the release of LIVE DRUGS featuring live interpretations of songs throughout their career, including off their 2014 breakthrough, Lost In The Dream.
Their fifth studio album, I Don’t Live Here Anymore, landed on numerous 2021 ‘Best Albums Of The Year’ lists and garnered a second BRIT Award nomination.
Their headline show at the Piece Hall is one of only four UK dates in 2023.
And with their live shows packed with such anthems as Under The Pressure, Red Eyes, Burning, Thinking of a Place, Pain, Victim, In Chains and An Ocean in Between the Waves expect their headline show at The Piece Hall to be one of the highlights of the summer.
The War On Drugs join Grammy Award nominees The Lumineers among the first headliners announced for Live At The Piece Hall 2023.
Nicky Chance-Thompson DL, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “What an honour to be added to the European tour of this huge band.
