Cuffe and Taylor, one of the UK’s fastest growing event promoters, is to present all live concerts at North Yorkshire’s Scarborough Open Air Theatre (OAT) over the next five years
It is today announced that Cuffe and Taylor has signed an exclusive deal to programme all live music events at the unique venue from 2016 onwards.
Over the last five years Cuffe and Taylor has grown significantly. The hugely successful Lytham Festival, Betley Concerts and Greenwich Music Time are among the company’s festivals and events which has seen them work with artists including Tom Jones, whom they brought to Scarborough earlier this year, Neil Diamond, Billy Ocean, McBusted, Faithless, Collabro and Katherine Jenkins.
They have also worked extensively with Rod Stewart and are presenting his eight-date outdoor stadium UK Hits Tour in 2016.
Today’s announcement comes just two weeks after Cuffe and Taylor revealed they would be presenting British soul and pop band Simply Red at Scarborough OAT next August.
Cuffe and Taylor director Peter Taylor said working with Scarborough OAT and Scarborough Borough Council presents an exciting opportunity.
He said: “We are thrilled we’ve been able to sign this deal with Scarborough Borough Council as we see this as a very exciting partnership.
“As Europe’s largest open air theatre the OAT is a fantastic venue to work with and offers something different to both artistes and audiences.
“We work with some of the biggest names in music and plan to bring internationally renowned stars to the OAT over the coming years which we see as not just great for Scarborough but the whole of the Yorkshire Coast and beyond.
“Cuffe and Taylor present live music events across the UK and we have been looking to secure a base to promote further events in Yorkshire. Scarborough is providing us with a great opportunity to do that and, as with our other events, we hope to see not just the town benefit but the whole area as people come from far and wide when they visit the venue.”
As well as Cuffe and Taylor enjoying exclusivity to programme 12 shows a year from 2016 to 2020, the partnership will also see them handle the production of each event and manage all marketing and Box Office requirements.
In 2015 more than 150,000 people were entertained at Cuffe and Taylor events across the UK. With the announcement of the Scarborough OAT deal, Rod Stewart’s UK Hits Tour and the myriad of other events Cuffe and Taylor will be presenting, it is anticipated this figure will be in excess of 500,000 in 2016.
Cllr Derek Bastiman, Leader of Scarborough Borough Council, said: “We’re delighted to have Cuffe and Taylor on board to help us deliver an exciting new chapter for Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Our own management team has delivered some really successful events in the last few years and at the same time has been looking for ways in which it can make the theatre’s season bigger and better.
“It was the strong relationship the team formed with Cuffe and Taylor earlier this year that led to this opportunity to work with them exclusively for the next five years. We’re looking forward to seeing how their experience and flair can help us build on the theatre’s growing reputation in the music industry and its popularity with concert goers.”
